VILA REAL
Vila Real, the tradition of Dão wine.
Vila Real, capital of the Trás-os-Montes province, can be a starting point to explorer the river Douro valley and define the Porto wine route. Some touristic points of interest include the Bisalhães village, place of the Bisalhães black pottery, a traditional technique that produces black pieces of pottery. This technique was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. North from Vila Real, you can find the historic city of Chaves, a starting point of one of the most beautiful Portuguese routes, that goes along the first road that connects the North to the South of the country, the EN2.
