Santarém.

Santarém is a district that belongs to the historic region of Ribatejo. Here, the most beautiful towers, monasteries, temples and palaces of the whole country have been built.

In Lezíria, there are other points of interest, such as its wines and, specially, the Pedra soup. The beautiful streets in the city of Tomar are also worth visiting, as well as the Convent of Christ, that belonged to the Knights Templar. In this region, the Fátima sanctuary attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year. There is another annual event that must be highlighted: The Golegã Fair is the National Horse Fair, the most important and authentic fair of this kind that happens in Portugal and in the rest of the world.
